The Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (LAIS/UFRN) was one of the winners of the Health IT Award, held during the forum of the same name last Thursday (29) in São Paulo. The event honored companies and institutions with recognized work in various areas of health.
LAIS was highlighted as a success case for its work in the area of Telemedicine, through the SMART systems and National Platform of Telediagnosis (PNTD). The projects, coordinated by Professor Ricardo Valentim, were developed through doctoral theses of laboratory researchers.
Coordinator of the laboratory, Professor Ricardo Valentim spoke about the importance of recognizing the work developed by the team.
“It is important to highlight that in LAIS everyone works to develop solutions that change people’s lives. The work in question that motivated this award, the SMART, was developed by researcher Jailton Carlos de Paiva through a doctoral thesis, which reinforces that for us, research can not only stay inside the university, but that needs to impact on the edge, help improve health services and people’s lives. We are very happy for this recognition,” he said.
