This Tuesday (17th), there was the first meeting of the committee of academics and specialists that will assist the State Secretariat of Public Health (Sesap / RN) in facing the pandemic of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) in the state of Rio Grande From north. At the meeting, the specialists discussed actions regarding the reduction of the damage caused by Covid-19 to the population.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Health Secretariat, professors from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), researchers from the Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health (LAIS / UFRN), and also professors specialized in the areas of health, epidemiology, infectology and technology. The group aims to enable actions to be taken based on the interdisciplinarity of the areas, and thus better meet the needs of the population.

Among the agendas discussed was the time of stoppage of activities in public and private schools, and whether the deadline will be periodically reviewed. The group also discussed the recommendations for opening establishments such as shopping malls, gyms, ports and airports. Issues related to contingency actions to deal with the pandemic, the situation of the ICUs, as well as the communication actions and the preparation of the population, were also discussed.

According to Professor Ricardo Valentim, LAIS coordinator and member of the committee, the creation of the body has as main objective to make the actions taken by the Government of RN, related to the fight against the pandemic in the state, be based on the decisions of the professionals specialized committee members.
