The interim president, Hamilton Mourão, visited this Monday (16) the Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (LAIS/UFRN). The visit was part of the official agenda of the interim head of the Executive, who knew projects and actions developed by LAIS in the areas of health, technology and educommunication.

The visit began with a quick presentation of the laboratory, led by Professor Ricardo Valentim. After the meeting, the acting president and his team visited the research bases of LAIS, where they saw projects already in application in the Unified Health System (SUS) and projects still under development, with emphasis on the work in the area of assistive technologies and prevention and diagnosis of syphilis.

“For some time now, we have not had the slightest doubt that the association of artificial intelligence with technology will change the world. And here we are seeing a “piece” of this change in the world, especially for people who already have some disability since birth, or who acquire it throughout their lives. This space brings hope to a significant number of people, who can regain quality of life thanks to the work of this team. I want to congratulate everyone,” said Mourão.
