The Syphilis Rapid Response Project - also known as "Sífilis Não” is an initiative of the Ministry of Health that provides for the development of academic research and educational actions, as well as broad communication on ways to combat and treat infection. It aims to reduce the number of acquired and vertical transmission cases, and it aims to eliminate congenital syphilis in the country.
Connecting education, technology and health, the Virtual Environment of SUS (AVASUS) offers completely free courses offered by institutions with reference in distance education (DE), for students, health professionals from all areas and also for the population in general.
Osseus is a method based on artificial intelligence and electromagnetic waves to support the diagnosis of diseases related to bone metabolism disorders, known as osteometabolic. Osseus emerges as a low cost, easy-to-operate portable device,which allows a high scalability factor, enhancing its use in every region of Brazil.
The project aims to design and develop a Plasma Pen capable of sterilizing tooth decays and silently removing it without causing pain to the patient. It is a versatile and innovative technology for application in dentistry, eliminating the fear and aversion that some people have to dental treatment.
Autonomus is a project of the Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health (LAIS), which presents assistive technology for patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Using a standard webcam on a laptop computer, the Autonomus user is able to exchange emails, read books and even talk.
The Health Informatics base was born from the objective of developing Information and Communication Technology, in the most diverse aspects of health.
The team's work is focused on technological development, focusing on improving and improving the quality of health services for the population, while giving priority to the care of students' education.
The Bioengineering base is responsible for performing transdisciplinary work which includes students from different engineering areas, as well as students from the School of Science and Technology, Nursing and Dentistry.
This category works with biomechanical analysis, implants and 3D prototyping and rehabilitation, always focusing on the return to society.
The Assistive Technologies base aims to develop multidisciplinary works, integrating students from various engineering fields with the healthcare area students.
The goal is to promote the exchange of experiences and professional growth, where all developed technology must be made available to citizens and patients.
Hearing and Language
Hearing e Language basis works on technological research applied to the typical and atypical development of children's hearing, language and cognition, as well as technological innovations aimed at the identification, diagnosis and rehabilitation of hearing disorders.
The work front stands out for the Teleconsulting project in Hearing Rehabilitation.
As Escolas do LAIS são compostas pelas Escola de Programação, Escola de Hardware e Escola de Inteligência Artificial e têm como objetivo: fomentar ações de caráter formativo aos pesquisadores do laboratório, a partir de problemas reais no âmbito da saúde pública. Dessa forma, a aprendizagem ocorre de maneira contextualizada e aplicada às necessidades dos projetos, que são desenvolvidos ao longo desse processo e, ao final do ciclo de aprendizagem o produto desenvolvido é entregue à sociedade
