Plasma Pen

The project Plasma Pen is a versatile and innovative technology for application in dentistry. It aims to develop an instrument capable of sterilizing cavities and silently removing dental caries without causing pain to the patient.

It was developed by the researchers of the Laboratory for Technological Innovation in Health (LAIS/UFRN) in partnership with the Onofre Lopes University Hospital, which allows providing assistance to patients treated at the hospital.

The plasma pen comes to solve the problems found in the process of removing dental caries, which is performed using pens with drills and low and high rotation turbines, which cause vibration, pressure, noise and pain, as well as discomfort and stress when patient.
