Programing School

The Programming School has the function of training new researchers in order to develop systems for the Laboratory for Technological Innovation in Health (LAIS) and for the public health network. At the school, scholarship students from the Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Design courses learn to use programming languages so that, under the supervision of two tutors, they develop applications, systems, and services that will be used at the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (EBSERH), at the Onofre Lopes University Hospital (HUOL) and at the Januário Cicco Maternity School (MEJC).

The students work through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method. PBL is a pedagogical proposal that consists of student-focused teaching based on problem-solving.

The problems or demands that arise all the time from these health institutions and the laboratories linked to LAIS serve as a stimulus for developing creative and practical solutions to improve patient care in public health services.
